Tonight I had the pleasure of being invited to have dinner aboard the sailboat Moonshine. Owners Mike/Christie and son Shane. They have a lovely boat a place for everything and very nice. Christie made some noodles/green beans and cheesecake that was so good. Mike cooked pork chops on the grill, everything was so good. I thank them for opening there home to me and sharing that great meal. Wish them the best in the coming years.

Buzz–I’m a 64 year old semi-retired boat captain living on my homemade houseboat in Saint Petersburg. I have covered the stretches in your travels many times, in many different size boats. In 2006, I took a 26′ canal boat with a 20 HP diesel from Saint Pete. to Saint Paul, MN. I fully support your project and I admire your spirit of adventure. I don’t know if you plan to jump the Gulf as part of your trip, and I’m sure you know your boat is in the “marginal” category for such a trip. I’ve crossed from Appalachicola (or Carabelle) to Tarpon Springs many times, and I would simply advise you to err on the side of caution. I would be happy to discuss details with you, or share my experiences. I did a blog at http://www.huckfinntrip.blogspot.com I have enjoyed looking at your posts. Wishing you the best…Captain Brion
Hello again Buzz, finally got your reply. I was worried that I didn’t send you the right e-mail address. Anyway good to hear from you. I read the article about you this morning and forwarded it to some friends up in Savannah. Too bad your already past that point or I could have got you another free supper. Ha. Anyway know some boater up in that area who are going to love what your doing. The article was totally awsome. I’m goin to program your ph# in my cell so expect to hear from me from time to time. Until then, smoothe sailing. Larry.
Brian. I am at Pelican Marina in Elizabeth City NC.
Heading north 1st next week, taking the route
thru the Dismal Swamp. I did go to your site,
that is/was a sweet looking canal boat. I am
sure you could have helped me from tarpon
springs to and up the east coast of Florida.
Thanks for following my travels. Having the
time of my life.
Buzz
Larry. When we talked on the phone, I
