Once we get across Mobile Bay (big relief), we continue to the LuLu’s Rest and Marina on the Intercoastal waterway. Then on to Fort Walton Marina, we arrived there on Wednesday Dec. 23, 2009. Tug’s parents flew in and rented a cottage east of Dustin for the holidays. Tug’s parents, Mike and Penny Buse invited me to their cottage on the Gulf of Mexico for a Christmas day dinner. Actually they invited me to stay with them the complete time. The brunch in the morning was great, and late afternoon dinner was turkey and all the trimmings. I had a great time and they made me feel like one of the family. Tug’s mom even put together and mailed two cute crabs to my granddaughter Jasmine back in Illinois. There was also a care package with beef sandwich and other snacks for me.
Since Tug was spending the next week with his parents we decided that if the weather permits I would go ahead on the intercoastal. Saturday, December 26th I left Fort Walton Marina, went approx 30 miles length of Choctawhatchee Bay and anchored for the night. The next day I continued on the Intercoastal to Panama City Marina where I stayed two nights, 12-27-09 and 12-28-09. I left Panama City on the of 12-29-09 on the Intercoastal and stopped that night at White City. They have docks there, but no service of any type. This is still better than anchor out. I left White City on 12-30-09 and arrived at Apalachicola, Florida about 2 pm in the afternoon. Got a slip at Scipio Creek Marina and will wait for Tug here before going around the big bend on the Gulf. The next update won’t be until after we get to someplace by Clearwater. Estimated to take minimum 10-15 days approximately. Distance approximately 280 miles.
